Yoga Fundamentals

Are you brand new to Yoga? Are you returning to Yoga after a long break? Would you like to receive some help of the fundamentals of Yoga postures before jumping into a class? Then this is the workshop for you! Each Yoga practice is a combination of standing postures, forward folds, twists, seated postures, and supine (lying down) postures. In this 90-minute workshop we will work through how to safely and effectively move your body into and out of these types of postures in a safe and effective Yoga practice. offer a unique blend of asana (yoga postures), pranayama (breath work), and savasana (centering, relaxation, & meditation).  Classes may also incorporate mudra (special hand positions), mantra (tools for quieting the mind), or the inclusion of special readings or Yogic Lessons.

 
Flowing Hatha Yoga

A vinyasa based Yoga practice that combines fluid movements or Yoga postures with deep controlled nasal breathing.  Punch cards accepted.

 
Hatha Yoga

An asana or Yoga posture based class emphasizing alignment through longer, static holds of postures. Punch cards accepted.

 
Prenatal Yoga

Monday & Thursday evenings Flowing Hatha Yoga class from 5:45-6:45 PM will contain Yoga Poses that are safe during all 3 Trimesters of your pregnancy. Punch cards accepted.

 
Yoga + Meditation

A Hatha Yoga practice that incorporates an extended Guided Meditation (10-20 minutes) at the end of the class.

Restorative Yoga + Nidra

Yoga Nidra means Yogic Sleep and refers to the conscious awareness of the Deep Sleep state. In yoga nidra you leave the waking state, go past the dreaming state and then go to deep sleep, yet remain awake. The practice is deeply relaxing and rejuvenating. Time spend in yoga nidra opens us to deeper clarity. It is one of the deepest of all meditations, leading us to supreme stillness and insight, guiding you into a deeply restful and revitalizing state.  It is said that 1 hour of yoga nidra practice can replace 2-4 hours of REM sleep.

This restorative “inner-body” yoga uses a series of guided visualizations and deep relaxation techniques to move beyond the conditioned mind into a state of expanded self-awareness. Access to the deeper realms of the mind allows us to release the sources of tension, anxiety, unwanted habits, and self-limiting beliefs and to awaken our greatest inner potential. Each class begins with 30 mins of gentle, meditative yin asana, followed by 45 mins of Nidra in savasana (corpse pose).  Props available at studio for comfort.

Nia

Through Movement We Find Health. Nia combines Dance Arts, Martial Arts, and Healing Arts to empower people to achieve physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. Each class consists of choreographed movements to uplifting music. Nia Classes leave the body & mind feeling refreshed, energized, and empowered. Punch cards accepted.

 
Pilates Plus

Pilates Plus infuses pilates with additional concepts and exercises from physical therapy, yoga, and traditional fitness. We will take mat training to a whole new level using props such as balls, blocks, bands, and foam rollers. The small group training setting will allow for natural growth from all participants through this 8-week progressive class. 

The BENEFITS OF PILATES includes building flexibility, muscle strength, and endurance in the abdominals, back, arms, and legs. It places emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing, developing a strong core or center, and improving coordination and balance. Pilates' system allows for different exercises to be modified in range of difficulty from beginning to advanced. Intensity can be increased over time as the body conditions and adapts to the exercises. This class will be taught by Jes Davies who is a practicing Yoga & Pilates Instructor as well as a Physical Therapist.

April 9 – May 28, 7:00-8:00p

Sacred Chakra Awakening - 7 Week Specialty Series
Yoga Level 1-2
Join us on a journey through the energetic body as we explore our 7 primary energy centers in the body known as The Chakras.  Each Chakra corresponds to different areas of the body, physical functions, and aspects of the psyche.
This series will focus on each of the Chakras, one week at a time. Starting with the root chakra and ascending upward, this series will awaken and open these 7 energy centers along the spine. Open Chakra’s lead to greater physical health & vibrance, balanced emotions, and an overall sense of peace and contentment. Each class will include education on balancing the chakra, a flowing Yoga practice (Level 1-2) specific to the charka, as well as meditations & mudras (hand gestures) associated to the highlighted chakra.  This meditative class will assist all to achieve greater synchronicity between the mind, body, and spirit.

Creative Mediation

The benefits of Mediation are endless including reduced anxiety, enhanced energy/vigor, and weight balance.  Since Mediation is so amazing, why isn’t everyone doing it??  The idea of sitting cross legged with our eyes closed while thinking about nothing is hard or even impossible for many of us.  The good news is there are many CREATIVE ways to experience MEDITATION.  These can include guided mediation, drumming, chanting, walking, practicing breath work, gazing at artwork and beyond.  Allow the experts at Haleybird Studios to assist you in reclaiming your health, vitality, and inner peace by sharing with you the many ways we practice CREATIVE MEDITATION. Classes will be 45-60 minutes and are an excellent opportunity for all to experience different paths to inner harmony from a variety of experts. Donations Only
