Hyp Yoga Weight Loss Program Description
Hyp-Yoga offers a specialized 6-Week Weight Loss Program.  This innovative class combines Yoga & Hypnosis to help one achieve weight loss goals through the practice of Yoga Postures, breath work for stress reduction, and bringing our mind to a heightened state of awareness so that we may create new healthy habits.

This program is ideal for people who would like to lose weight, people who have lost weight and are in the very tricky "maintenance" part of their weight loss journey, or individuals who simply want help living a healthy lifestyle.

The weight loss program consists of 90 minutes classes.  In addition to a Yoga practice and hypnosis session, the class also  includes informational group discussions on weight loss topics such as emotional eating, how to fight food cravings, and the "science" behind losing weight.  The group becomes a support system for each other and a safe place to discuss and work on food and health goals.  Individuals can contribute as much or as little to discussion as is comfortable to them.  Due to the group support aspect of the class, class size is limited to 8-10 participants.

The Yoga portion of the weight loss class is taught similar to a "Yoga Flow for EveryBody" class.  The class utilizes rudimentary Yoga postures & Yoga Flows.  The use of props & modifications are taught & encouraged through out the class so that the Yoga poses will be accessible to individuals of all ages and fitness levels.

What is Hypnosis & why does it work?
Hypnosis is a heightened state of awareness.  During hypnosis we are listening with more of our mind that we usually do - and with 100% of brain function.  In our daily life we typically use 5%-15% of our brain to focus on the tasks at hand.  The remainder of our brain is dedicated to subconscious activities such as metabolism, heart rate, & emotions.

Hypnosis opens up the subconscious part of our mind.  This is the part of our mind that keeps working even when we are not aware of it.  Think about all of the activities that come naturally to you, such as walking, driving, dancing, etc.  These were things that at one point we had to learn, but now, they are things that we do on "auto-pilot".  These automatic activities are stored in our subconscious.  This is why hypnosis is so powerful.  During hypnosis, we imbed positive goals, affirmations and behaviors into our subconscious so that we continue working on our goals even when we're not consciously thinking about them!

What does it feel like to be Hypnotized?
The average person goes in and out of a hypnotic state 3-4 times per day.  Whenever you find yourself in a daydream, you are in hypnosis.  If you are driving down the road and "space out" only to find yourself safely down the road a few moments later, you are in hypnosis.  Getting lost in a book or getting emotionally involved in a movie, such as crying or screaming, are also good examples of being hypnotized.

Unfortunately, the media and entertainment industry have exploited & wrongly depicted the practice of hypnosis.  It has left people with either the fear that they surrender personal control and will to the hypnotist or that hypnosis is simply a joke or done for show.  Neither of these conceptions are true.

When you are in a state of hypnosis you are extremely relaxed with your sub conscious turned on.  During hypnosis, you are always in control of yourself and can come out of hypnosis whenever you choose.  All hypnosis is essentially self-hypnosis.  The facilitator is there to help the participant to relax, open their mind, and provide positive hypnotic suggestions.

Our bodies & minds go into a hypnotic state best when we are relaxed.  Some people easily relax and can go into a hypnotic state with ease.  For the rest of us, there is Yoga.  Yoga has proven itself to be an excellent form of relaxation.  A gentle Yoga practice prepares the body & mind for hypnosis.

What happens in a Hyp-Yoga Class?
Each Class will include:
-An brief introduction & time for questions
-A brief hypnotic induction with breathing techniques or in Yoga terms "Centering"
-A series of Yoga poses and flows with positive hypnotic suggestions.
-A whole body relaxation into a deeper state of hypnosis
-Positive hypnotic suggestions focused on helping you achieve goals related to living a healthy, successful life.
